Ubatuba - São Paulo

It is placed in the northern littoral of Sao Paulo, 334 kilometres from Rio de Janeiro.

This is a mountainous area covered by Atlantic vegetation.

Its beaches are beloved for many Brazilians. It has 80 beaches over its 90 kilometre coast, from the exited and dynamic beaches of Itamambuca and Vermelha do Norte, frequented by sportsmen, with strong waves, until the free paradisiacal beaches of La Playa de la Hacienda, with calm waters.

In addition, Ubatuba presents mounts, bays, islands, inlets and islets.

On Holliday season (April-May), this place receives half million of tourists.

It is interesting to traverse through The Provincial Park of Anchieta Island, Itamambuca Beach and Pixinguaba Nucleus in The Provincial Park of Sierra del Mar.


Beaches in the centre:

Itamambuca Beach. 15 kilometres from the city. Famous for its constant swell, clear sand and ideal for surfing. Diverse championships take place in July.

Do Felix Beach. 18 kilometres from the city. Also, ideal for surfing because of its strong waves. Its tourist infrastructure is not totally develop, but it has dwellings and private neighbourhoods.

Do Prumirim Beach. 23 kilometres from the city. It includes optimal points for diving and a natural pool shape cascade. It is a small beach with green water and gross sand. It is not constantly frequented and it possesses a rare natural beautifulness. Prumirim Island is optimal for walking and diving. In order to arrive there, it is possible to use a boat (previously talking with a local fisherman), a kayak or even, it is possible to go swimming.

Puruba Beach. 25 kilometres from the city. Ideal for fishing, diving and walking throughout the islands.

Ubatumirin Beach. 33 kilometres from the city. Optimal for camping, with dark and firm sand.

Brava de Almada Beach. 40 kilometres from the city. Recommended for surfing, with strong waves and clear sand.

Da Fazenda Beach. 42 kilometres from the city. A place with calm sea and clear sand. This beach has 3.5 kilometres of extension, its sand is clear and its sea is calm. It is situated inside the Provincial Park of Sierra del Mar - Picinguaba Nucleus. It is perfect for swimming and aquatic sports.

Brava do Camburi Beach. This beach does not have tourist infrastructure and, so, it is ideal for wild camping; as well as surfing thanks to its brave sea.

Camburi Beach. This is a recognised beach for important surfing contests; its water is clear and its sand is soft and white.

Picinguaba Beach. This term in Tupi-Guaraní Language means "fish reduit". It was created in the middle of The XVIIII Century. It contains a traditional fishermen colony. Besides, it is recommendable to visit La Piedra de la Tortuga (Turtle´s Stone) and make some ship tours through the islands of Comprida, Carapuça and Coles.

Do Alto Beach. This is a solitary beach with calm clear water. It is perfect for bathing and diving.


Beaches to the south:

Vermelha Beach. 4 kilometres from the centre of the city. Its sand is soft and plenty of shells. It is ideal for surfing thanks to its strong tubular waves that permit the achievement of amazing movements. It is also called Vermelhina because of the red tonality of its sand. It is easy to access it, and there are kiosks all over the beach. It is not appropriate for swimming because of the sea´s bravery and its strong currents. However, it has an aquatic park special for families´ distraction.

Do Tenorio Beach. 4.5 kilometres from the city. A dangerous sea with strong currents and white soft sand. Thanks to its particular location, it is considered one of the most beautiful beaches of Ubatuba. It is possible to access it through Itaguá or Playa Grande (Big Beach).

Das Toninhas Beach. 8 kilometres from the city. A beach with fine yellow sand and strong waves perfect for surfing.

Da Enseada Beach. 9 kilometres from the city. Its waters are very calm and, of course, ideal for nautical sports.

Da Sununga Beach. 14 kilometres from the city. It is recommended for surfing but not for swimming because of its dangerous sea.

Do Lazaro Beach. 14 kilometres from the city. It is a port. This beach has calm transparent water, clear sand and well designed tourist infrastructure. It is favourable for bathing.

Domingas Dias Beach. 15 kilometres from the city. It presents 400 metres of sand and calm clear water. This beach is surrounded by a splendid native vegetation and clear sand.

Vermelha Do Sul Beach. 24 kilometers from the city. It is ideal for aquatic sports.

Da Fortaleza Beach. 27 kilometres from the city. With calm waters recommended for fishing and diving.

Do Cedro Beach. 28 kilometres from the city. It is formed by natural pools, with transparent water and gold sand. It is the least transited of Ubatuba.

Do Bonete Beach. 29 kilometres from the city. It is a calm and solitary beach.

Maramduba Beach. 29 kilometres from the city. It is a large and urbanized beach special for families.

Cassandoca Beach. 31 kilometres from the city. A large beach with no vegetation.

Da Lagoa Beach. 37 kilometres from the city. This is a small solitary bay.

Das Sete Fontes Beach. It presents a closed bush which makes difficult the access to this place. It is a nice beach with crystalline and calm water. To arrive there, it is necessary to follow a path from Saco de la Ribera, by crossing Flamengo Beach, for the period of 45 minutes. It is also possible to arrive there by ship, departing from Saco de la Ribera or Lazaro Beach.

Itaguá Beach. It is located in the central area of Ubatuba. It possesses one of the best tourist infrastructure of Ubatuba; in this sense, it counts with hotels, bars, restaurants, kiosks, etc.

Lagoinha Beach. This beach is ideal for bathing and nautical sports. It has calm water and compact sand. It presents an elaborated tourist infrastructure with several options in terms of hotels, lodgings and restaurants.

Grande Beach. It is a frequented site in the region. It counts with good tourist infrastructure like bars and restaurants. Its waters are clean and have a green tonality, its sands are firm and, in consequence, they are ideal for soccer or volleyball.

Saco Da Ribera Beach. This place is used as a tourists boats´ port. Diving companies work in this area. They offer tours around the island. The environment of this beach is completely nautical, fishermen and boatmen live and wok peacefully together.
